SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's swimming and diving teams took on San Diego State this Saturday. The Ute women defeated SDSU with a score of 166-120. The women improve to 2-3 on the season and 2-1 in the MWC.
Sophomore Neringa Statkeviciute finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.38, followed by fellow Ute Loren Sweny with the second place time of 1:54.31. Statkeviciute also took first in both the 50 freestyle (24.20) and 100 freestyle (52.70). Sweny also place first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:06.69. Sophomore Kristen Kaiser performed well by taking first in the 500 freestyle (5:10.57) and second in both the 1000 freestyle (10:34.16) and the 200 butterfly (2:12.91). Courtney McKinney finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.33. Utah's Tessa Greegor, Melissa Chamberlin and Phoenix Fribourg finished with the top three times in the 100 breaststroke. Chamberlin also took first in the 200 breastroke (2:24.80) followed by Greegor with the second place finish (2:26.42), while diver Kerri Fiori won the one meter (204.75) and three meter (180.35) diving events.
The swimming and diving teams will travel to Colorado and Washington to compete in the Holiday Training Camp. Event dates are Dec. 14-22.
