Golf Squad Places 12th At Countrywide Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.-- The University of Utah golf team finished 12th out of 21 teams at the Countrywide Invitational Tuesday to close out the fall golf season. Utah was in 10th place after two rounds of play Monday with Gregg Oliphant and Brock Padilla tied for 26th place, both at 6-over-par, and Ryan Ellis in 36th place at 7-over-par. Padilla shot a 76 in the last round, finishing the tournament in 27th place and 10-over for Utah's top finish. Ryan Ellis placed 40th at 13-over, Gregg Oliphant placed 49th, Shawn Edwards placed 54th and Clint Christiansen placed 96th. Lance Edwards entered the tournament as an individual and placed 84th.

Utah will begin its spring golf season Feb. 23-25 at the John Burns Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.
