HIGH SCHOOL: Houston Chronicle Top 100 Recruit in 2012 … first-team all-district as a senior and second-team as a junior … rushed 149 times for 1,140 yards and 10 touchdowns last fall … state 5A 400-meter champion as a senior ran a 46.8, which was the fourth-fastest prep time in the nation in 2013 … state 400-meter runner-up as a junior … 5A Region III 400 meter champion in 2011 and 2012 … qualified for state twice in the 400 meters and also with Nimitz High's 1600-meter relay team.
PERSONAL: Son of LaChanda Malone and (stepfather) Carlos Malone … brother Selvin Young played for Texas and in the NFL for the Denver Broncos … film and media arts major … is interested in film animation and has made several films … interned at Too Many Legs Animation Studio in Salt Lake City one summer … full name is Dre'Vian Latrel Young (pronounced dray-vee-ahn) … born Dec. 18, 1993.
