McNamara tabbed as Offensive Player of the Week, DiPonio named Defensive Player of the Week
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A pair of Utah lacrosse student-athletes earned Atlantic Sun Conference weekly awards following the Utes' record-breaking win over Iona on Saturday, the league office announced Monday.
Luke McNamara was selected as the ASUN Offensive Player of the Week and Nikko DiPonio was selected as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after Utah put together one of the most dominant performances in program history in its 32-4 victory over the Gaels.
McNamara set the Utah program record with 10 goals to go with an assist for a career-high 11 points in the Utes' victory. He is the first Division I player to score double-digit goals in a single game since Hobart's Jason Knox did so during the 2020 campaign, and his 11 points are tied for the most by any player nationally this season. The sophomore took 15 total shots, 12 of which were on goal, and added a ground ball.
McNamara is now tied for the national lead in goals with 23 on the season, and his 4.60 goals per game are tied for second nationally and the most in the ASUN.
This marks the sophomore's first career weekly award from the ASUN. McNamara was one of three Utes named to the ASUN all-Freshman team a season ago.
DiPonio, the Preseason ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, led Utah's defensive charge against Iona, recording a career-high 10 ground balls to go with a caused turnover and his third assist in as many games. The senior leads the ASUN in caused turnovers with 16 and ranks fourth in ground balls at 25 entering the week.
This marks the fourth career weekly award for DiPonio, who was already selected as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season following Utah's season-opening win against Delaware.
Utah has now swept conference weekly awards twice in 2026 and is the only team in the league to do so this season.
