No. 35 Utah Closes Roadtrip With a 4-0 Loss to No. 42 UCF

ORLANDO, FLA.— The University of Utah women's tennis team battled in a Big 12 ranked matchup this Saturday at the UTSA National Campus. The No. 35 Utes fell 4-0 to the No. 42 Knights bringing the Utes season to a 6-5 record.

DOUBLES
In doubles action, the Knights came out hot and secured the doubles point advantage on courts No. 3 and No. 1. At the No. 2 spot, Utah's Sara Akid and Emmie Moore were leading 4-3 before the clinching moment and the match ultimately went unfinished.

SINGLES
In singles action, the Knights picked up wins at the No. 5, No. 6 and No. 2 spot to clinch the overall match.

At the No. 2 spot, Utah's Akid pushed her first set into a tiebreak but ultimately fell 7-6(4), 6-0 to UCF's Jantje Tilburger.

At the No. 1 spot, Utah's Emma Kamper dropped her first set 6-3 to UCF's Olivia Berger but returned with a 6-1 second set win. The match was ultimately left unfinished with Kamper leading 1-0 in the third set.

At the No. 3 spot, Utah's Kaila Barksdale battled for a 7-5 first set win but her match was ultimately left unfinished at 4-1 in the second set.

At the No. 4 spot, Utah's Emma Valletta dropped her first set 6-1 before taking a 6-1 in the next set. Valletta's match would ultimately go unfinished in the third set with her down 3-2.

UP NEXT
The Utes will return home to the George S. Eccles Tenner Center facing in-state rival BYU on Mar. 7 at 11 a.m.
