ABOUT THE ANNE OSBORN POST-GRADUATE INTERNSHIP AWARD
The Anne Osborn Post-Graduate Internship Award was created with the intent to invest in Utah female student-athletes who have expired their eligibility, but possess extraordinary potential to become leaders of their generation through careers in college athletics.
Endowed by University of Utah Distinguished Professor Emeritus Anne G. Osborn, MD, the award provides financial support for a full academic year as the recipients gain valuable insight, development, and real-world experience working in athletics. Osborn was a two-sport athlete herself, competing in swimming and basketball while completing her undergraduate degree at Stanford University.
"Even at the highest levels, only a few student-athletes will ever have a realistic chance to compete professionally in the sport they love," stated Dr. Osborn. "This post-graduate internship will allow recipients the opportunity to explore the ever-growing spectrum of careers in collegiate athletics."
All candidates for the award must be former female student-athletes who possess leadership potential, character, academic achievement, and athletic excellence.
Throughout the year, all recipients must be fully engaged with their assigned roles and mentorship programs through the Utah Athletics Department and its EmpowHer program, and be actively involved in professional development sessions and departmental duties. Recipients will also be asked to provide periodic updates on their experiences and achievements that will culminate in a final reflection to be given to the EmpowHer Board of Directors.
MORE ABOUT KATHRYN GRANT, UTAH SWIM & DIVE (2022-26)
Throughout her career as a Utah Ute, Grant established herself as one of the program's top divers, earning First Team All-Big 12 honors on 1-meter and Second Team All-Big 12 honors on platform during her senior season. She was one of only 16 women in the country to qualify and compete in all three diving events at the 2026 NCAA Championships. At the NCAA Zone E Championships, she placed fourth on 1-meter, 10th on 3-meter and sixth on platform. A two-time Big 12 Women's Diver of the Week, she recorded nine first-place finishes during her senior campaign and earned a bronze medal on 1-meter at the Big 12 Championships
"I'm very excited that Kathryn joined our staff and very appreciative to the University of Utah for giving her this opportunity," said head Utah Swim & Dive coach Jonas Persson. "Not only was Kat a great diver for us, but she was a great student-athlete and role model to our team. That is very beneficial for her role right now. She's already done some excellent work for us, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."
Â
Throughout her four-year career, she consistently excelled at the conference and national levels, earning Second Team All-Big 12 honors in 2025 and qualifying for the NCAA Championships in all three events as a sophomore and contributing to Utah's program-best team score of 338.00 at the 2024 Pac-12 Championships. As a freshman, she finished 21st on platform and 25th on 1-meter at the NCAA Championships, both fourth-best finishes in program history at the time.
"With the ever-changing future of college sports, I hope to bring more attention to not only the success and development of female athletes, but also to empower those in non-revenue sports," said Grant. "This position is an exceptional opportunity to help build upon individual athlete development and the greater success of smaller sports. I'm eternally grateful for the chance to kickstart my career on the other side of athletics and take what I've learned as a Ute and empower the athletes I have the privilege of working with every day."
