Dampier throws for three scores as Utes improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play
Â
Utah improves to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Big 12 Conference play. Colorado drops to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the Big 12.Â
Â
The Utes started the evening by dominating the first half, outgaining the Buffaloes 248-70 and owning a 22:03 to 7:57 advantage in time of possession. Included in that yardage total was a 75-yard touchdown drive to open the game, the sixth time in as many games Utah has found the end zone on its opening possession in 2026. Third down numbers also favored Utah, who converted 6-of-10 in the first half while holding Colorado to 0-for-3.
Â
The night ended with Utah outgaining Colorado 409-394 and the Utes have now outgained all six opponents this season, eclipsing at least 400 yards in every game. The visitors also owned a 37:00 to 23:00 edge in time of possession, the third time in four games Utah has held the ball for more than 35 minutes.
Â
Those first half numbers helped Utah build a 13-0 halftime lead. The Buffs answered with 17 straight points in the third quarter, but Utah moved back in front with a 75-yard scoring march, capped by a touchdown pass from Devon Dampier to Braden Pegan.
Â
Dampier threw multiple touchdown passes for the 12th straight game, while completing 24-of-40 for 278 yards and three scores. Utah's quarterback connected with eight different receivers, led by Pegan's eight catches for 86 yards and two scores. Creed Whittemore finished with a career-high 88 receiving yards on three receptions, two of which resulted in third down conversions. Noah Bennee made four grabs and Byrd Ficklin hauled in a career-high three passes.
Â
Utah's ground game was led by Wayshawn Parker, who racked up 96 yards on 22 carries. Hunter Andrews rushed for 26 yards and caught a touchdown.
Â
James Chenault Jr. and Rabbit Evans both grabbed interceptions, with Chenault's pick setting up Utah's final touchdown of the night. Jackson Bennee logged a team-high five tackles and added two PBUs.
