SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men's tennis head coach,
Roeland Brateanu has officially announced the signing of Simeon Terziev, a transfer from UCF. Terziev will join the Utes for the 2025-26 season as a sophomore.
"Simeon is a born winner and brings a wealth of experience to our Utah family. He's eager to get his dream and goal of being a professional tennis player back on track and we are very excited that he has chosen us to give new life to his tennis career," Brateanu said.
Terziev, a Sofia, Bulgaria, native, played two seasons at UCF. During the 2024 season, he did not see action. In 2025 he helped UCF to a Top 25 ranking for 23 consecutive weeks. He and the Golden Knights picked up two NCAA Tournament wins before falling in the Sweet 16. He posted a 1-1 singles record and a 2-2 record in doubles action.
Prior to his time at UCF, he attained a career-high ITF junior singles ranking of 68. He climbed to No. 1 in the Bulgarian Junior National Rankings. He was a 10-time Junior Bulgarian National Champion throughout age categories 12-18. His highest ATP Ranking was No. 1,233 having reached multiple M15 finals. He was a 2022 Bulgarian Men's National Champion and a 2022 semifinalist in M15 Future event and was a runner up in M15 Futures in doubles.
"Utah believed in me, gave me an opportunity to grow and I will forever be grateful about it," Terziev said. "I won't disappoint. It all starts now. Go Utes!"
