Utes Fall 4-0 to UCF in Big 12 Tournament

WACO, Texas – The University of Utah men's tennis team fell 4-0 to UCF in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament Friday evening.
The Utes now sit with a 14-10 overall record.
DOUBLES
Utah battled in doubles play but fell just short. Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo started things off by defeating Yassine Dlimi and Emilio Sanchez 6-3 in the No. 1 spot. The Knights then picked up a win on the No. 3 court leaving the doubles point decision to court No. 2.
At the No. 2 spot, Max Relic and Berk Bugarikj battled back to take their set into a tiebreak, however, the Ute duo couldn't pull it out and fell 7-6 (3) to Mehdi Benchakroun and Santiago Giamichelle giving the doubles point advantage to UCF.
SINGLES
UCF made quick work of singles play picking up wins at the No. 1, No. 6 spots. The match was decided on the No. 2 court where Reid Jarvis battled into extra games in the second set to keep the Utes alive but couldn't pull out the win giving UCF the clinch.
Emmett Potter picked up a 6-4 win in his first set and was fighting in a 4-5 score in the second before the match went unfinished.
Dante Teramo grinded out a 7-6 (4) win in his first set and was up 2-1 in the second before the match went unfinished.
Max Relic dropped his first set 3-6 but was tied up at 5-5 in his second set with the chance to keep fighting in his second set before going unfinished.
