IRVING, Texas – A total of 58 student-athletes from the Utah Utes' five Big 12-sponsored winter sports programs were recognized this week for their academic accomplishments with inclusion on the 2025 Winter Academic All-Big 12 Team. The honors included student-athletes from Utah's women's basketball, men's basketball, gymnastics, women's swimming & diving and men's swimming & diving.
Â
Utah's eight selections from the women's basketball program, which earned its fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, were the most among all Big 12 schools. Among other competition highlights, Big 12 champion gymnastics finished fourth in the nation at the NCAA Championship meet, men's diver
Elias Petersen earned Big 12 Diver of the Year and All-America honors, while women's diving sent three competitors to the NCAA Championships.
Â
The Utes' academic success continues to parallel the department's tremendous success in NCAA graduation rates. Utah tied its highest figure in the NCAA's GSRÂ
with a score of 95-percent in the most recent report posted in November. It marked the seventh consecutive year that Utah's score has met or exceeded the 93-percent benchmark, and tied for the second-highest mark among all public institutions in power conferences.
Â
To qualify for the 2025 Winter Academic All-Big 12 Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher either cumulative or over the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20% of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
