MANHATTAN — The University of Utah women's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 62 Kansas State on the road on Saturday afternoon. Utah's record moves to 7-13 overall, and 2-9 in Big 12 play following the match.
The Utes faced early challenges in doubles. After the Wildcats claimed a win on the top court, Sara Akid and Emma Valletta responded with a 6-3 victory on court two. With the point coming down to court three, Kansas State edged out the Utes to secure the doubles point.
In singles,
Emma Kamper delivered a dominant performance on the top court, rolling to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Zhanel Rustemova to even the match. From there, Kansas State responded with wins on courts three, two, and four to secure the match.
Hayley Roberts had taken her first set 6-2 and was battling in the second at No. 5 when play was halted.
NEXT UP
The Utes return to Salt Lake City to close out the regular season at home, hosting Houston on April 10 and UCF on April 12 at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
