The Utes are Two Wins Away from Breaking the Program Record for Wins in a Season
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Utah Beach Volleyball is on the road this weekend for the last of their regular season action prior to the Big 12 tournament. Utah gets four opportunities this weekend, with matches versus No. 10 Long Beach State, No. 4 Loyola Marymount and two matches versus CSU Bakersfield.

UTAH TWO WINS AWAY FROM HISTORY
Utah comes into their final four-match regular season weekend with a record of 18-10, which puts Utah just two wins away from breaking the program record. Set at 19 wins, it was the 2024 Utah Beach squad that set the new bar by finishing with the programs first winning record. Now just one year later, Utah sits just two wins away from becoming the winningest team in Utah Beach Volleyball's nine-year history.
SENIOR PAIR READY FOR ACTION AT LMU
The pairing of seniors in the No. 3 spot for Utah has been nothing short of excellent this season and looks to keep winning this weekend. Kylie Pitzak and Ellyn Collins have been clicking all season, and each have achieved a lot individually that deserves to be recognized. Kylie Pitzak earlier in the year joined the 50+ win club for Utah and put herself firmly in first all-time for most wins as a Utah Ute. Ellyn Collins joined Utah's squad this year as a graduate transfer and has left an immediate impact. On the season, Ellyn has been dominant in the tiebreaker set, winning 10 of 13 third set matches. She also leads Utah in total wins on the season, winning 22 matches. As a pair, this duo went 12-1 to start the season and won their match versus No. 12 FAU.
HEAD COACH BRENDA WHICKER
Coach Whicker enters her ninth season at the helm of Utah beach volleyball. She is coming off the winningest season in program history finishing with a record of 19-16, with a first-round Pac-12 Tournament victory over Oregon. So far in 2025, she has coached Utah to their most successful season so far in program history, with a record of 18-10. Whicker was a volleyball player at Utah under current volleyball head coach Beth Launiere from 1994-97. She holds the record for most aces in Utah volleyball history and is one of six players in Utah volleyball history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career while playing for Utah.

SCOUTING THE WEEKEND COMPETITION
- No. 10 Long Beach State comes into the weekend on fire, as in their past two weekends they have acquired wins over five ranked teams, including No. 6 Cal Poly. The 49ers will see a familiar face this weekend, as they played LMU earlier this season. When they hosted LMU for their mid-season match, Long Beach State took a narrow 3-2 loss to the top five ranked Lions. Against opponents that Utah has faced, LBSU wins over Arizona, Boise State and FIU, all of which ending in a score of 4-1.
- CSU Bakersfield's last weekend out was for the Boise State Classic, where they took just one win out of four outings. Similarly to Utah, the Roadrunners have a win against Boise State and a loss to Arizona on their season resume. Early in the season CSU Bakersfield celebrated a win versus the No. 15 ranked team in the country in Georgia State.
- Utah starts their Saturday sleight of games by facing No. 4 Loyola Marymount. LMU has been ranked within the top five throughout the entire season, being ranked as high as No. 2. LMU is undefeated on their home court this year, sitting at a perfect 6-0. Last weekend in San Luis Obispo, Calif., LMU defeated two of the Big 12 conferences top teams, beating TCU who was No. 1 at the time of play, and getting a victory over No. 12 Arizona State. LMU has had no shortage of tough opponents, as 25 of their matches have been against ranked teams, where they have been victorious in 19 of them.
