SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's tennis team fell 4-0 to Kansas Thursday afternoon.
Utah is now 7-10 overall on the season and sits at 2-6 in Big 12 play.
DOUBLES
Utah had a slow start in doubles action with the Jayhawks claiming the doubles point. Kansas picked up wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots in the lineup.
Sara Akid and Emma Valletta defeated Jasmine Adams and Yerkezhan Arystanbekova in the No. 2 spot 6-2.
SINGLES
In singles, Kansas picked up wins at the No. 4 spot, No. 6 and No. 5 spots to clinch the match 4-0. At the No. 1 spot, Emma Kamper took her first set into a tiebreak but fell 6-7. She was down 3-5 in her second set before it went unfinished.
On court No. 3, Kaila Barksdale dropped her first set but won her second set 6-3 to force a third. She was down 1-2 before the match went unfinished.
Sara Akid won her first set 6-3 and was locked in a tiebreak in her second set before the match went unfinished on court No. 2.
UP NEXT
The Utes will host Iowa State Saturday, March 29 before hitting the road to Oklahoma State (April 3) and Kansas State (April 5). Utah's final home games will be April 10 against Houston and April 12 against UCF.
