SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah tenis head coach
Roeland Brateanu announces the signing of Calvin Armstrong to join the Utes for the fall 2025 season.
"We always love when local talent wants to come continue their careers and education at Utah," Brateanu said. "He's a four-star recruit and is one of the best in the state. We're excited to have Calvin join us in the fall and excited to start working with him."
A Highland, Utah native, Armstrong finished 2024 as the No. 1 ranked player in the state in both singles and doubles and capped off the 2024 season as the 6A First Singles State Champion.
"I've dreamed of playing tennis for the University of Utah since I was a little kid," Armstrong said. "The fantastic coaches, amazing players and strong community made it a perfect fit for me. I'm excited to compete at the highest level while playing in front of my hometown crowd. I can't wait for the opportunity to represent Utah."
The four-star recruit earned the title of Deseret News Utah's Mr. Tennis in 2024. He has captured four Intermountain Sectional singles titles and eight doubles titles, establishing himself as one of the region's top competitors. Armstrong is currently ranked No. 1 in Utah, No. 3 in the Intermountain section, and inside the top 150 nationally.
