SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Ski Team and director of skiing
Fredrik Landstedt on Tuesday finalized the program's selections for the 2025 NCAA Ski Championships. The meet is set to take place next Wednesday through Saturday, March 5-8, in New Hampshire.
Dartmouth College will serve as the host, splitting events between the Dartmouth Skiway (alpine) in Lyme Center, New Hampshire, and Oak Hill (Nordic) in Hanover, New Hampshire.
The Utes were one of five teams nationally to qualify a full load of 12 participants for the meet. Colorado and Denver were the other RMISA programs to accomplish the feat, while Dartmouth and Vermont were the two teams out East to qualify 12 participants.
Utah's alpine lineup includes
Kaila Lafreniere,
Kaja Norbye and
Claire Timmermann on the women's side; the trio of men racing are
Johs Braathen Herland,
Sindre Myklebust and
Simen Strand. For Nordic, the Utes will race
Erica Lavén,
Celine Mayer and
Selma Nevin in the women's lineup with
Brian Bushey,
Joe Davies and
Walker Hall selected for the men.
Quick hits follow below on each selected member of the Utah Ski Team.
The rest of the team all qualified for NCAAs as alternates. The Utes will travel
Zachary Jayne as a Nordic alternate. Jayne has raced all 12 events for Utah this season with two victories, including a regional championship in 7.5K classic.
Utah has won 16 national championships in program history. Of Utah's 16 national titles, 15 are NCAA crowns which ranks third of all schools. The other is an AIAW Championship that the Utes won in 1978 prior to women's championships coming under the NCAA's umbrella.
In the tightest-ever finish to an NCAA Ski Championships, Utah finished second in the team standings last year in Steamboat Springs, a mere two points behind Colorado. The Utes had 13 All-America awards throughout the meet, third-most of any team.
Mikkel Solbakken (men's giant slalom) and
Sydney Palmer-Leger (women's 7.5K freestyle) each won individual NCAA championships—among 86 all-time in Utah history.
