Utah Tops New Mexico 4-2 at Battle In Boro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The University of Utah men's tennis team wrapped up the Battle in Boro with a 4-2 victory over New Mexico on Sunday morning. The Utes' record moves to 7-4 overall, remaining 1-0 in the Big 12.
Utah saw standout performances from both Emmett Potter and Reid Jarvis. Potter, who grabbed an early doubles win, led the charge in singles action on court No. 3, while Jarvis clinched the match victory for the Utes at No. 2.
DOUBLES
Utah grabbed the early advantage in doubles action. Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo collected the first Ute victory, topping Aram Noroozian and Georgio Samaha 6-4 in the No. 1 spot. Nicolas Calixto and Emmett Potter then defeated Aditya Balsekar and Avery Tallakson 6-4 on court three, clinching the doubles point for the Utes. The remaining doubles matchup was left unfinished.
SINGLES
Utah dropped the first singles match on court No. 5 which evened the overall score to 1-1, but Potter quickly responded with a 6-0, 6-4 win for the Utes at No. 3. Teramo then extended the overall match lead to 3-1, topping Dario Ciobotaru 6-4, 6-2 on court four.
New Mexico then claimed a victory in the sixth spot but Jarvis answered by defeating Balsekar 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2, securing the match victory for Utah. Berk Bugarikj was locked in a third-set battle at the time the match was clinched his match remained unfinished.
UP NEXT
The Utes will return home to face Denver on Sunday, March 2, at noon, before heading west for the San Diego Invite March 7-9.
