Utah's Strong Play In Doubles Not Enough in 4-1 Loss to Middle Tennessee

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men's tennis team fell to Middle Tennessee in the first match of the Battle In Boro 4-1 Friday afternoon.
Utah now sits at 6-3 overall on the season and remains 1-0 in Big 12 play.
DOUBLES
Utah started the match off strong by capturing the doubles point. Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo picked up a 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot over MTSU's Ondrej Horak and Karim Al-Amin. The Blue Raiders picked up a win in the No. 3 spot. The doubles point came down to the No. 2 spot where Utah's Berk Bugarikj and Max Relic defeated Middle Tennessee's Jakub Kroslak and Kacper Syzmkowiak 6-4 giving Utah the doubles point advantage.
SINGLES
MTSU picked up wins in the No. 1, No. 6, No. 3 and No. 5 spots to clinch the overall match.
Emmett Potter dropped his first set 6-2 but won his second set 7-5. Potter was about to start his third set when his match went unfinished.
Reid Jarvis dropped his first set 6-1 before picking up a 6-3 win in the second set. He was tied 2-2 in his third set before the match went unfinished.
UP NEXT
The Utes will continue action in Murfreesboro, Tenn. in the Battle In Boro to take on South Alabama Feb. 22 at 8 a.m. (MT) before taking on New Mexico Feb. 23. The Utes will return home to take on Denver Sunday, March 2 at noon.
