SEATTLE / ALBUQUERQUE – The Utah track & field team had a historic day on the track with its DMR squad running the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history with the top-5 finishers at the Husky Classic all breaking the collegiate record.
Â
HUSKY CLASSIC
The DMR run heard around the world kicked off the day for Utah inside Dempsey Indoor with its DMR team running a collegiate record-breaking time of 10:42.56. The mark ended up being the fifth-fastest collegiate time ever after all top-5 finishers in the event broke the collegiate record that had just been set last year by UW in Boston.
Â
Bri Rinn led things off for Utah, keeping pace with the pack before Stanford took the lead just before handing off the baton to the 400m leg of the race to
Emily Martin. Martin would bide her time before kicking it into high gear to take the lead with about 150m left in her portion of the race ahead of handing it off to her younger sister,
Kyla Martin, with the lead for the 800m leg of the DMR.
Â
K. Martin would hang onto that lead for a majority of her run before Stanford's third leg took over the lead in the final 200m heading into the 1600m portion of the race with K. Martin handing baton over to
Erin Vringer – who would close out the race for Utah and solidify the new program record and top-5 collegiate mark all-time.
Â
In the 3000m open race,
Kylie Hartnett bested her previous PR time by over 10 seconds after she crossed the finish line at 9:37.76. Meanwhile, newcomer
Claire Le Gallo also set a new PB in the 3000m run – finishing with a mark of 9:42.43.
Â
Anna Peters closed out the evening for Utah in the Emerald City by running the fifth-fastest 5k in program history when she crossed the finish line at 16:03.35 in her very first indoor 5000m race.
Clara Mayfield also had a solid showing, besting her previous PR time by over 31 seconds with a run of 16:07.67.

Amoah's time wound up being the second-fastest mark of the day in the unseeded 200m event.
Â
Rachel Bair bested her previous PR time with a run of 24.99 (aa) in her heat of the 200m event while
Bailey Kealamakia posted a season-best mark of 24.31. Freshman
