The Utes defeated Arizona in the first round of the Pac-12 Championships.
OJAI, Calif. – The Utah Women's Tennis defeats the Arizona Wildcats, 4-1, in the first round of the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Championships. With the win, the Utes advance to the Quarterfinals.Â
"I am so proud of this group," remarked head coach Ric Mortera. "We did a great job of executing our game plans and making the adjustments from the last time we played them a couple of weeks ago. This was a complete team effort today and we look forward to using the rest of the day today to recover and prepare for our next round of the tournament."

The win in the Pac-12 Championship was the first for the Utes since the 2017 season when they defeated Arizona, 4-2.Â

The Utes clinched the doubles point with a win on courts one and two. Katya Hersh and Lindsay Hung finished first, losing to the Arizona duo of Belen Nevenhoven and Midori Castillo-Meza, 1-6.Â

Emily Dush and Anastasia Goncharova won their match against Kayla Wilkins and Khim Iglupas shortly after, 6-2. To secure the doubles point, Linda Huang and Madison Tattini closed out doubles with their victory over Wildcats Kirsten Prelle and Salma Ziouti, 6-4.Â

In Singles, Tattini was the first to finish, defeating Kirsten Prelle, 6-1, 6-3, which put the Utes ahead 2-0. Anya Lamoreaux earned Utah their second singles point of the match and third of the day for the Utes with her win against Khim Iglupas, 6-2,6-3.Â

Dush finished third, losing to Arizona player Kayla Wilkins, 4-6, 3-6. Goncharova defeated Lexi Ryngler in the last match of the day, 6-4, 6-1, to clinch the win for Utah.Â

All other matches were left unfinished, but Utah had won a set on each court.Â
