Utah is bowl-eligible for the eighth straight season and the 15th time in 17 seasons under head coach Kyle Whittingham.
Utah is 5-1 in the Pac-12 for the first time since 2019 and on Friday night won its 50th conference game since joining the league in 2011. Utah has won 16 of its last 19 conference tilts.
Whittingham earned his 140th win at the helm of the Utes, and is now two from passing Ike Armstrong as the winningest head coach all-time at Utah.
Including his time as an assistant coach from 1994-2004, Whittingham has been on staff for 225 Utes victories.
Utah improved to 6-4 all-time against Stanford, 4-1 as conference foes and 5-0 all-time on the road against the Cardinal.
Utah's 45-point margin of victory ties the largest for the team in a Pac-12 road game, and second-largest overall in a Pac-12 game (since 2011). The overall mark is short only to a 49-3 home win over UCLA in 2019.
Utah won the coin toss and elected to receive. Stanford defended the North goal.
Offense
With 581 yards, Utah eclipsed 500 yards of total offense for the first time since 2020 vs. Washington State (528).
On the ground, Utah's 441 rushing yards in the game were the fourth-most in school history. It's the most since the 1991 season, which featured a school-record 478-yard team rushing effort vs. New Mexico.
Those 441 rushing yards are in part thanks to the first game in Utah history with three 100-yard rushers. It includes sophomoreTavion Thomas (20--178), redshirt freshman Micah Bernard (12--110) and juniorTJ Pledger (4--107).
Utah scored 38 points in a half (1st) for the first time since 2020 vs. Washington State (2nd). For the first half only, it's the most by the Utes since 2013 and tied for 10th-most since 1968.
Utah produced 440 yards of total offense in the first half, the first 400-yard half for the Utes since amassing 424 yards (1st half) vs. Weber State in 2013.
Thomas (20 carries) had as many touches for the fourth straight game and rushed for a career-high 177 yards (8.9 ypc). Previously, Thomas' career-high was 160 rushing yards, set vs. UCLA (Oct. 30).
For the second straight week, Thomas tied the program record for touchdowns in a game (4), all in the first half. There have been nine different four-rushing-touchdown games by Utah players, all since 1980.
Thomas has scored 10Â of Utah's last 13Â rushing TDs.
Thomas is the first Pac-12 player since 1996 (this includes Pac-10 era) to rush for four-plus touchdowns in consecutive games. He is just the 11th Power 5 player to accomplish the feat since 1996, and the first since Minnesota's Mohamed Ibrahim in 2020.
Thomas' 58-yard hustle for a score in the second quarter was the longest rush of his career, surpassing a 43-yard run at USC (Oct. 9).
That 58-yard run capped Utah's quickest scoring drive of the season at just 12 seconds. It came in under the Utes' 35-second sequence last week vs. UCLA.
This is Thomas' fourth multi-rushing-touchdown game of the season (2 vs. Weber State, 2 at Oregon State, 4 vs. UCLA). Thomas now owns five such collegiate performances, including a two-touchdown game vs. Alabama A&M during 2018.
Thomas surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark in a single half for the second time this season. It includes the second half at USC, where Thomas had all 113 of his yards on the ground (16 carries) in the second half.
For the second straight game, Thomas scored multiple touchdowns both in a quarter and in a half. Against UCLA (Oct. 30), It includes a pair of scores for Thomas during the second quarter, and three total in the first half.
Thomas has posted a rushing score in five straight games, and multiple touchdowns for the third straight contest.
Thomas' 14 rushing touchdowns on the season are tied for third all-time at Utah, and he needs just one more to tie Zack Moss (2019) and John White (2011) for the program record.
Pledger ran 96 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, for the longest run in Utah program history. It surpassed a 93-yard run for Frank Nelson vs. BYU in 1947.
It is tied for the third-longest run in Pac-12 history (including Pac-10 era) and is the longest since 1997. It is the second-longest in FBS football this season.
All-time at Utah, it's the second-longest play from scrimmage, short only of a 98-yard completion from Dan Hagemann to Jack Steptoe--coming in a 1976 game vs. New Mexico.
Pledger's run put the Utes ahead 34-0, and also pushed Pledger over the 1,000-yard mark for his career.
Sophomore quarterback Cameron Rising was 13-of-22 passing for 140 yards, with no interceptions and no sacks. Seven of Rising's 13 completions gave Utah a first down.
Freshman and fellow quarterback Ja'Quinden Jackson relieved Rising in the fourth quarter. Playing in his third collegiate game, Jackson entered with 7:06 left in regulation and had one carry for 10 yards.
Utah has amassed 450-plus yards of total offense in five straight games and six total this season.
Utah has scored on its opening drive in four straight games.
Defense
Junior linebacker Devin Lloyd had a career-high five TFLs for 19 yards, among his nine total tackles on the night. It includes a nine-yard sack in the first quarter, Lloyd's second-longest sack of the season (14 vs. Arizona State).
Lloyd's five TFLs are the most by a Ute since 2016. It is tied for fourth-most in a game in program history. This season, his five TFLs are the most by a Power 5 player and third-most in FBS football.
Lloyd recorded his second career pick-six during the fourth quarter. It's his fourth career interception, third this season and second pick-six. Lloyd's first pick-six came in 2019 vs. Oregon State, and it's the second for Utah this season (Clark Phillips III vs. Washington State).
Freshman safety Cole Bishop tied his career-high with four tackles.
Bishop's three-yard TFL on Stanford's first drive was his first career TFL. He added his first collegiate sack during the fourth quarter.
Redshirt freshman defensive end Miki Suguturaga had a strip-sack in the fourth quarter, both his first sack and first TFL as a Ute. Freshman linebacker Jonah Elliss came up with the recovery, his second of the season.
Utah produced 15Â TFLs as a team, matching the most since 2018 at Colorado (15).
Utah forced a game-opening three-and-out for the fifth time this season, and held its opponent scoreless on their opening drive for the seventh time this season.
The Utah defense allowed (-)13 yards of offense in the first quarter, marking the first time since at least 2019 that an opponent had negative offensive yards in a quarter.
The Utes have recorded a defensive takeaway in seven straight games, the second-longest active streak in the Pac-12.
Special Teams
