Utah sweeps Abilene Christian, falls to #14 Arizona.
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Utah beach volleyball team split its pair of matches on the final day of the ASU Tournament on Sunday. The Utes picked up a sweep over Abilene Christian and later fell to No. 14-ranked Arizona to close out the weekend at the Pera Club in Tempe.

Utah picked up its second sweep of the season and did not drop a set at any position in its first match of the day against Abilene Christian. Kinga Windisch/Keana Smalls and Phoebe Grace/Olivia Teerlink each picked up their first wins as partners to give the Utes an early 2-0 lead with wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots.

Utah's No. 3 pair of Lauren Sproule and Jessica Villela clinched the dual with their straight set wins of 21-13, 21-8. The momentum continued for Utah's top pairs as Tawnee Luafalemana/Dani Drews and Kenzie Koerber/Megan Yett completed the clean sweep against Abilene Christian. Â

The Utes closed out the ASU Tournament against No. 14-ranked Arizona and fell 5-0. Drews/Luafalemana pushed Arizona's top pair of Olivia Hallaran and Mia Mason to three sets after picking up a first-set win, 21-10. The Wildcats bounced back and took the second set to force a third set to go for the sweep against Utah. Hallaran/Mason went on to win the third set, 15-10, over Drews and Luafalemana.

Utah beach volleyball will return to Salt Lake City and host its first ever home event on Saturday, April 13. The Utes will welcome Boise State and Colorado Mesa to compete in the home tournament. Matches will be played at Ute Beach that is just northwest of the Life Center.
