Women's Tennis Edges Out Wisconsin, 4-3

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Utah women's tennis team notched a victory earlier today against the University of Wisconsin, coming out on top against the Badgers with a score of 4-3. With this win, the Utes will now move to an overall record of 5-2 on the season.
I am very proud of how we fought to win this road match against one of the better teams in the Big 10," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "Leah held up very well under the heat, especially for her first time in that situation. Emily and Lindsay were able to set the tone in the singles."
The Utes started things off by earning the doubles point, with Lindsay Hung and Emily Dush getting the first win at the No. 3 spot, edging outAva Markham and Christina Zordani with a score of 6-3. Brianna Chisholm and Madison Tattini then secured the doubles point at the No. 1 position, as they were able to defeat Sara Castellano and Lexi Keberle with a score of 6-4.
In singles, Dush kept things rolling with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Anna Makarova on the No. 1 court. Then, a win by Hung at the No. 4 spot against Melissa Pick with a score of 6-4, 6-0, quickly put the Utes up 3-0 against Wisconsin. With wins at the No. 5, 1, and courts, the Badgers were then able to make things even with a score of 3-3. Leah Heimuli then secured the victory for the Utes on the No. 6 court, defeating Maryann Rompf in three sets with a score of 7-6, 1-6, 6-3, to get the 4-3 win.
The University of Utah women's tennis team will be back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. MT, as they will take on the University of Minnesota. A recap and results will be available on UtahUtes.com following the completion of each match.
