Women' Tennis Downs Boise State, 5-2

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's tennis team finished off their weekend of home matches undefeated earlier today, as they were able to defeat Boise State with a final score of 5-2. With this win, the Utes move to an overall record of 4-1 on the season.

"I was disappointed with our performance in doubles play, but I am very impressed in the way that we rallied back in singles," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "I'm very pleased with this win and this weekend as well."

The Utes fell behind early, as they dropped the doubles point to the Broncos. On court No. 3, Wiktoria Nosek and Emily Strande topped Leah Heimuli and Anya Lamoreaux with a final score of 6-1. Boise State then sealed the doubles point with a win at the No. 1 spot, as Brianna Chisholm and Madison Tattini fell short to Wihelmina Palmer and Lilian Poling, 6-2, to put the Broncos up 1-0.

Then in singles, the Utes were able to mount a comeback against Boise State. Madison Tattini got things started at the No. 2 position, as she defeated Lilian Poling with a final score of 6-2, 6-2. Whitney Hekking then followed with a win of her own on the No. 5 court, knocking off Emily Strande, 6-1, 6-3. At the No. 3 spot, Emily Dush then defeated Wiktoria Nosek, 6-4, 6-2, to put the Utes up 3-1. Lindsay Hung then sealed the victory with a win at the No. 4 position, topping Vanessa Timm with a score of 6-4, 6-4. The final victory of the day came from Leah Heimuli on the No. 6 court, as she took down Sydnie Binder, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, to give the Utes the 5-2 win/

The University of Utah women's tennis team will be back in action next week, as they will make a road trip to take on North Carolina State in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Utes will match up against the Wolfpack on Saturday, February 16^th, with the start time of the match yet to be determined.
