MISSOULA – The No. 22 Utah Utes were perfect on Friday, August 31 sweeping Gonzaga at the Montana Volleyball Invitational.

Senior
Lauga Gauta had her second career double-double finishing the match with 16 kills and 15 digs.
Dani Drews was the other player to finish in double-figure kills with 11.

The Utes cruised through the first two sets and built a 12-6 lead in the third, but Gonzaga fought back winning seven of the next eight points to take the lead. The Zags kept the momentum eventually giving themselves four set points at 24-20.

With
Bailey Choy serving, Utah ran off four in a row to tie the score at 24. Gonzaga broke the streak by winning one more point, but the Utes came right back and ran off three more to steal the set and win the match.

Utah closed the match by winning seven of the last eight points.

The first set was tight until late when Utah used a 5-1 run to take the opening frame, 25-21.

In the second set, the Utes grabbed an early lead and held on throughout eventually pushing their lead to as much as nine before winning it 25-18.

In all, Utah had 49 assists on the night as Choy finished with 33 and
Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres finished with 11. The team hit .356.

Brianna Doehrmann led the team with 15 digs. She's had double-digit digs in every match of the season so far.

Utah swept both teams today improving to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Montana Volleyball Invitational. They have one more match in the tournament against Iowa State on Saturday, September 1 at 11 a.m.
