Utes Fall Short to Old Dominion

NORFOLK, VA. – The University of Utah men's tennis team suffered a loss today for the first time in nine matches, falling to Old Dominion with a final score of 4-0. With this loss, the Utes move to an overall record of 14-2 on the season.
"Congrats to Old Dominion. They played tough, played to win and simply overpowered us today," said head coach Roeland Brateanu.
In doubles, Old Dominion went up early be earning the doubles point. Dan Little and Azat Hankuliyev were the sole Utes to earn a victory, beating out Jannik Giesse and Michael Weindl at the No. 3 position with a score of 6-4.
The Monarchs then won three straight matches in singles to defeat the Utah men's tennis team with a final score of 4-0. The Utes will be back in action tomorrow to take on Virginia Commonwealth University, with the match set to start at 10 a.m. MST.
