The Basics: The Utah women's basketball program is geared up to take on the BYU Cougars in the Jon M. Huntsman Center on Saturday, Dec. 8 for its annual
RED OUT game and Deseret First Duel . Fans are encouraged to wear red to receive free admission to the game. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Networks with Krista Blunk and Ros Gold-Onwude on the call.
How to Tune In: The game against BYU will air on Pac-12 Networks. Fans can also catch the game in action on the radio with Tyson Ewing calling the shots on ESPN 700.
The Opponent: The BYU Cougars enter the game 6-2 overall this season with their only losses coming against Pac-12 foe Cal (70-52) and Southern Utah (67-64). They have three players averaging double digits this season, led by freshman guard Shaylee Gonzales with 16.9 points per game. Junior Brenna Chase is also chipping in 12.9 points per game, also averaging 2.8 steals per game which ranks in the top 25 nationally. Head coach Jeff Judkins enters his 18th year with the Cougars with 373 career wins under his belt.

Last Time Out: The Utes outscored the Utah Valley Wolverines 43-16 in the second half of an 85-47 rout on Saturday night, improving to 7-0. Utah forced a season-high 28 turnovers against Utah Valley, scoring 33 of its 85 points off the mistakes. Three of Utah's four seniors reached double figures with
Megan Huff and
Sarah Porter leading the way with 20 points each.
Daneesha Provo added 15 points along with a team-high four steals.
Utah vs. The West Coast Conference: Utah is 99-51 all-time against the current members of the West Coast Conference with a 64-40 record against BYU.
To 80 and Beyond: In the last three games, Utah has averaged 89.6 points per game, reaching 80-plus points in all three. It is the second time under the direction of
Lynne Roberts that the Utes have had back-to-back-to-back games with 80+ points (85 vs. Weber State, 11/17/17; 81 vs Purdue, 11/20/17; 90 vs. Incarnate Word, 11/24/17).
Porter Gets Going: Sarah Porter was on fire from the three-point line against Utah Valley, dropping in 6-of-7 from deep, just one shy from tying the school record for threes in a game (7). Her career-high made threes is nine, set against UC Riverside while she played for UC Santa Barbara. The nine made threes was a UCSB school record.
It's Raining Threes: For the third time in the
Lynne Roberts era, the Utes have hit 13 threes in a game (13 vs. Utah Valley, 12/1/18; 13 vs. Nevada, 11/10/17; 14 vs. Montana State, 3/18/16). Thirteen made threes is tied for third all-time in single-game threes by the team. Utah has scored 10+ threes in 10 games under the direction of Roberts since 2015-16.
Charity Stripe: Utah is 79-of-96 from the free throw line (82.3%), ranking second in the Pac-12 and fourth nationally.
Megan Huff was a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line against Utah Valley and is 13-of-13 in the last three games.
That Helping Hand:Utah has had three straight games with 20+ assists, including a season-high 25 against Eastern Washington. In that three-game span, 69-percent of Utah's made buckets have come off assists (104 made FGs, 72 assists).
