SALT LAKE CITY – Nathan Makarewicz and
Emma Ruchala both recorded third place finishes for the Utes during the first day of competition at the Utah Diving Invitational.
Ruchala tallied a total score of 256.05 on the one-meter, while Makarewicz recorded a total score of 361.00 on the three-meter.
"I thought today went great. Kenzie did a good job making her first collegiate final, which is a good accomplishment," said Utah head diving coach
Richard Marschner. "Nathan was solid during preliminaries and finals, and Jenner was just really smooth and steady through the whole thing. Clare and Emma are both coming back from injuries, so they didn't get to dive a lot this week, but they did a really good job of coming back."
For the men,
Jenner Pennock took seventh on the three-meter event, coming away with a total score of 291.10.
On the women's side,
Clare Greenlow finished in seventh place on the one-meter event, tallying a total score of 232.20.
Makenzie Caufield followed close behind in eight place, finishing with a total score of 232.05.
The Utes head into the final day of competition with the men's one-meter event and the women's three-meter event. Finals are set to begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Ute Natatorium.
