Three Utah Players Named Football Academic All-District

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah senior defensive end Hunter Dimick, junior safety Marcus Williams and senior long snapper Chase Dominguez have been selected to the Academic All-District football first team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the second-straight year that Dimick and Williams have earned all-district honors.

Dimick, Williams and Dominguez will be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.

Dimick, a senior who is majoring in communication and sociology, has a 3.33 grade point average. He is tied for second in the Pac-12 and leads Utah in sacks (7.0) and tackles for loss (11.0). Dimick leads Utah's linemen and ranks fourth on the team with 38 tackles. He also has two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Dimick's 22 career sacks is the fourth-most all-time at Utah. He is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection.

Williams, a junior sociology major, has a 3.59 grade point average. He is tied for third in the Pac-12 with three interceptions and has nine career interceptions. Williams has 32 tackles (1.0 TFL) and he is second on the team with five passes defended (three interceptions, two pass breakups). He is tied for third in the Pac-12 and ninth in the nation with two fumble recoveries and also has a forced fumble. Williams earned first-team Pac-12 All-Academic honors last year.

Dominguez, who has a 3.70 grade point average in communications, is a four-year long snapper for the Utes. He has 517 career snaps: 263 punts (including four fake punts), 92 field goals and 162 PAT. Dominguez has 80 snaps this season, snapping for every punt (38), field goal (16) and PAT (26). He is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree.

Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
