Utah Player Quotes
Quarterback Troy Williams On the final outcome
"We were one play short. We are all blessed to be in this situation, win or lose. I'm just happy to be out there against my brothers on both side of the ball."
On whether or not adjustments were made at halftime
"Nothing changed. I just stuck to the game plan and everything started working in the second half. I just kept a level head and took it one play at a time."
On his feelings about playing UW
"It was great and nothing personal, just business. It wasn't fit for me to be there at the end of the day and they're my brothers for life, just like these guys sitting here. It was great to see them after the game and I want them to continue to win out. We'll see them again."
On why it was hard throwing against UW in the first half
"You have to give credit to their guys over there. They're not bums, they're great players and you respect that, but at the end of the day that doesn't mean you can't go at them. They made a lot of great plays and so did we. They have a great defense but it didn't affect us in our game plan."
Running Back Joe Williams On what was working and not working offensively
"Every play was working and we need to execute better on some. I missed the hole a couple times so I need to keep moving my feet. We'll look at the film and prepare for Arizona State."
On what the goals are now for Utah
"Win out and play them again. I'm pretty sure they'll win out on their side and we'll see them again."
Offensive Lineman Isaac Asiata On his emotions after the loss
"You win and lose as a team whether it's offense, defense or special teams. That's how families do it. There's no blame. They made more plays than we did. Hats off to them. It sucks. Win lose or draw we are still a family."
On why he chose to wear J.J. Dielman's jersey
"J.J. is my brother. His name and number need to be out there on the field. I asked him and I hope I played in a way that honored the great lineman that he is. There are a lot of teams that claim to be a family and it doesn't come close to how this team is. No one is blaming anyone or pointing fingers."
Defensive Back Chase Hansen On what he saw on the interception
"We tried to disguise all night. He's a really good quarterback and a smart dude. We tried to disguise the coverage. We were in a two shell and he must have not seen us through the seam. We wanted to force a few more turnovers, make some big plays, but they're a good offense that made plays and we look to the future."
 On what posed them problems
"They're really stout and they have some big tight ends, blocking receivers and tough running backs. I don't know what happened on some of those runs and why they kept gashing us. We'll look at the film and work on trying to fix that because there's a still a lot to play."
Head Coach Kyle Whittingham Opening statement
"It was a tough game. I'm proud of our guys and we hung in there. That's a good football team we played today. They're talented, they have a terrific quarterback, they're well coached, they're solid in all three phases and they beat us. I'm proud of how our guys hung in there battling, and gave us a chance to win at the end. The positive is that it does very little to derail our hopes of getting to the championship game. It's a three-game season and we will take them one at a time. If we take care of business we will probably play these guys again. That's our objective. The goal is still there to try and make it to the championship out of the Pac-12 South. We're battling with a couple teams still in that fight with us."
On losing due to a special teams play, an area where Utah had been exceling
"I don't know. That's a great play by them. If we punt it, maybe they get possession, milk it down and kick a field goal. Maybe that gives us the best chance to win, to kick it and try and get the ball back immediately with three minutes left. Mitch Wishnowsky did a great job all afternoon and I think we missed a tackle; and give Dante Pettis credit, he's a really good punt returner. We had controlled the field position with Mitch all game. We were pinned at the two-yard line and so we didn't have our normal operating space to execute the punt. Still, no excuses, we should have made the play."
 On the UW pooch punt
"They left their offense out there and we have to be ready for a play or quick kick. There was a 90 percent chance I knew they would quick kick but there's a 10 percent chance they don't and you have to be ready. That's great execution and they executed it just right. They have scholarship players too and they make plays."
On Troy Williams' performance in the second half opposed to the first half
"Execute a little better and Troy threw it a little more accurately in the second half. He was not as accurate as he usually is but he settled in and threw the ball well. Siaosi Wilson made a nice catch in the end zone. Tim Patrick made some plays as did Evan Moaei. There was better execution, all around, and Troy was more accurate."
On whether or not Troy Williams was too emotional entering this game
"He was amped up but I don't think it was to the point of it affecting his play, at least I didn't sense that. He wasn't playing outside the framework of the offense."
Washington Quotes
Head Coach Chris Petersen Opening comments
"I thought it was a really good game by two good teams. It was a physically game. I thought both of Utah's lines were very impressive. That's a stellar offense and defensive line that Utah has. To run the ball, I thought we were pretty effective running it at times. We didn't pass protect as much as we'd like, but we will go back and look at that tape and see where we can go from here."
 On the momentum shifts
"I think we were on it. We talked about tackling, we talked about turnovers, and we talked about special teams this week. All of that showed up out there. It's awesome for Dante [Pettis] to get that punt return because that punter is a heck of a punter; he's a weapon. You could get nothing and he just kept driving us back and back. We finally got our chance and hats off to him. Special teams showed up, turnovers showed up, and I think our defense kind of showed up until we had a couple stupid penalties that really hurt us where we should have come off the field twice and didn't."
On the long throws from Browning
"We have been fairly effective all season long throwing down the field not just quick completions. I thought Utah did a great job with their coverage. They were very adamant that we weren't going to come in here and throw for a lot of yards, so we changed some stuff. The pass-rush was good."
On falling behind and having to comeback
"This to me is real football, Pac-12 football. They came in at halftime and were angry and kind of had that look in their eye, and I just wanted to make sure it was the right look. This is how it goes. You have to grind it out in the fourth quarter. Having games with huge leads in the first half, we have been fortunate with that, but that's not how it goes from here on out. We need to be able to know how to play tight games."
