Utah Women's Tennis Continues Pac-12 Championships

OJAI, Calif. - The No. 50 University of Utah women's tennis team continued play at the Pac-12 Championships today at the Ojai Valley Athletic Center and will advance one doubles pair to the invitational semifinals tomorrow.
No. 2 seeded Jena Cheng and Sarah Richter tallied two wins on the day to remain alive in the doubles invitational bracket. The Utah duo topped Washington State's Elizaveta Luzina and Holly Monahan 8-5 in the round of 16 before downing Colorado's Tina Bokhua and Kyra Wojcik in the quarterfinals. The pair is slated to face No. 4 Gabriella DeSimone and Zoe Katz at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Tereza Bekerova and Margo Pletcher teamed up in the championship doubles bracket and earned a first round victory over Oregon's Marlou Kluiving and Nicole Long, 8-6. The pair advanced to the quarterfinals where they were ultimately defeated 8-5 by No. 2 Klara Fabikova and Zsofi Sysanyi.
Bekerova also competed in the singles championship quarterfinals, but was downed by UCLA's Catherine Harrison, 6-4, 6-2, to fall out of the bracket.
Alexia Petrovic and Victoria Robertson teamed up in the doubles invitational bracket, as did Elena Najera- Salas and Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa but both pairs were topped in the first round.
