SEATTLE, Wash.- The Utah women's track and field team concluded the Husky Invitational Saturday with several Utes posting solid performances.
"We really stepped up and got some things done today," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "We are making the finals in the field events and our kids are really competing hard in the races. We didn't win any events today, but at the same time I felt like we really put ourselves into position to win and that is all that we can ask for. The kids are starting to believe in themselves and continue to compete hard every meet. With two weeks left until the MPSF Championships, I am excited to get back home and finish up a great indoor season."
The Utes began the second day of action with a couple impressive performances in the shot put. Redshirt senior Destanae Howerton-Davis qualified for the final round, where she threw a distance of 14.69 meters to capture sixth. Sophomore Kassie Nagel also competed for the Utes and placed 15th overall with a throw of 13.36 meters.
Freshman Michelle Norman competed in the triple jump for the first time in her collegiate career. Norman leaped a distance of 11.78 meters to earn fourth overall.

Nikki Rietz ran a time of 4:53.80 to finish 49th.
In the 3,000-meter race, Jessica Sams represented the Utes, crossing the line in 48th with a one-second personal record time of 9:42.64.
