SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team (7-1) netted two shutouts Saturday at the Eccles Tennis Center over Utah State (3-5) and Seattle (2-5) in its second double header of the season.

"It's was good bounce back win for the Utes today after Friday's tough loss," said assistant coach Roeland Brateanu. "We are very excited, especially for Justin Archer to record a win in his singles debut."

The Utes started out the day strong against the Utah State Aggies, taking the doubles point in two sets. Utah then quickly netted the match victory in singles competition at 4-0 when junior Cedric Willems trounced Matt Sweet at the No. 5 position, 6-3, 6-3.

Seniors Devin Lane and Alejandro Medinilla both took their matches to tie-break sets at the Nos. 5 and 3 spots, respectively, where they ultimately found success and were able to complete the sweep for the Utes.

Utah continued to dominate the courts as it took on the Seattle Redhawks. After easily capturing the doubles victory and going up 1-0, the Utes saw the deciding point come in singles play as senior Ben Tasevac routed Will Top at the No. 2 slot, 6-1, 6-2.

In his singles debut, sophomore Justin Archer topped Jason Bediones at the sixth spot, 6-4, 6-5(4), and posted Utah's sixth point of the match. Medinilla then completed the perfect sweep with yet another win at the No. 3 position, making the final score 7-0 in favor of the Utes.

The Utes hit the road for the second time this season and head to Denver, Colo., to take on No. 52 Denver and DePaul.
