- Complete Release from CoSIDA Utah senior middle blocker Bailey Bateman and senior libero Lea Adolph were each named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Bateman was named to the first team and will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot next month, while Adolph was tabbed a second team selection.
This is Bateman's second Capital One Academic All-District honor as the Hooper, Utah native earned second team honors following her sophomore season in 2012. A two-time Pac-12 Conference All-Academic selection, Bateman currently leads the team with 94 total blocks and her 1.15 blocks per set average ranks seventh in the league and 108th in the nation. She has 142 kills on the season and leads Utah with a .309 hitting percentage as well. Bateman earned Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors back on Sept. 15.
Adolph, a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection as well, earned Capital One Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career. The Waltrop, Germany native leads the team with 218 digs on the season and is averaging a team-high 2.99 digs per set. She has a team-high 13 service aces this season and has tallied 79 assists as well.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and have completed one full calendar year at their institution.
