The University of Utah diving teams will send a pair of divers to the Georgia Tech Invitational, which is set to take place this Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 20-22, at Georgia Tech's Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. The meet will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday with the men's one-meter event.
Sophomore Amanda Casillas will compete for the Utes on the women's side, while junior Jacob Crayne competes for the men's team.
COMPETING TEAMS
There will be a total of 14 teams participating in the diving completion. Along with Utah, teams scheduled to compete include: Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado State, Clemson, College of Charleston, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indian River, South Carolina and Tulane.
LAST TIME OUT
During last week's meet against Cal, Amanda Casillas took first in the one-meter event (276.15) and second in the three-meter event (283.43).
Jacob Crayne will be taking to the pool for the first time since competing against Colorado Mesa a couple of weeks ago, where he finished with top honors in both the one-meter (300.22) and three-meter (390.75). His score in the three-meter event serves as a career-high for the third-year diver and it also ranks as the second-highest score in program history, just behind Sterling Richards' school record of 412.65.
UTAH HEAD DIVING COACH Richard Marschner
"Only Amanda and Jake will be going to the Georgia Tech meet because our team has been hit by a bit of the injury bug. However, this meet will be a great opportunity for us to compete against some schools and athletes outside of our region that we do not normally get to see. It is a great meet and a great facility to really test where we are at this point of the season against some good competition."
