SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - After helping guide the Utah Utes to a pair of victories this past weekend, Adora Anae has been named this week's Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, according to a release from the league office on Monday.
Anae helped the Utes to a sweep of No. 2 Washington and Washington State, posting two double-doubles while averaging 2.67 kills and 2.56 digs per set over the weekend. The outside hitter tallied 14 kills and 13 digs in the 3-1 win against the Cougars, then continued her solid performance with 10 kills and 10 digs in the 3-2 upset over the Huskies.
Utah has now won four-straight Pac-12 matches, including three wins over ranked opponents. The win over No. 2 Washington marked the first time that Utah has knocked off a top-five team since defeating then-No. 1 Stanford back in 2000.
Anae's honor is the first of her career and the second-straight freshman of the week honor for the Utes as Eliza Katoa took home the accolade on Nov. 10. The Utes now have four weekly honors so far this season (Bailey Bateman, Defense, Sept. 15; Carly Trueman, Offense, Nov. 10) - the most for Utah since joining the Conference in 2011.
