Two Utes Reach Final Rounds at Dar Walters Tennis Classic

BOISE, Idaho - The Utah men's tennis team continued competition at the Dar Walters Tennis Classic Saturday. Freshmen Louis-Philippe Gascon and Johan Jonhagen each reached the final round of their respective singles flights.
"Our new guys learned some tough lessons about college tennis out there today, especially on the doubles court," said assistant coach Daniel Pollock. "We took some disappointing losses that showed some clear holes in our games that we have to fill. On a positive note, Johan and LP put up stellar performances in their matches to move on in their respective championship rounds tomorrow."
In singles Flight C, Jonhagen topped host Boise State's Abe Hewko, 6-4, 7-5 and is slated to face Mark Kovacs of Idaho Sunday in the final round. Gascon battled Idaho's Rhys Richardson in Flight D to a 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 6-4 victory and will take on Matt Sweet of Utah State in the finals.
In doubles action, both of Utah's pairs in the Blue and Orange flights fell in their respective quarterfinal rounds.
