SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's golf team hosts the Utah Ogio Invitational Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 6-7, at The Jeremy Golf & Country Club in Park City, Utah. Live scoring for the tournament will be available at golfstat.com.
Format
The 54-hole tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. MT shotgun start both days. The first 36 holes will be played Monday, followed by the final 18 holes Tuesday.
The Field Along with Utah, 12 teams are scheduled to appear in the tournament, including Arkansas Little Rock, Boise State, CSU Bakersfield, Pacific, Santa Clara, Seattle, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UT Arlington, Utah State, Utah Valley and Weber State.
Course
The Utah Ogio Invitational will be held on the par-71, 7,130-yard course at The Jeremy Golf and Country Club in Park City, Utah. Directions to the course can be found here.
Fan Information
Spectators are welcome and admission to the tournament is free. The tentative weather for Park City on Monday is clear with a high of 75° F. Tuesday calls for similar conditions with a high of 77° F.
Last Season's Utah Invitational
The Utes finished in fourth place with a mark of 1087 (365-355-367) last year at the invitational. Boise State, who was tied with Utah in fourth place heading into the final round of the tournament, wound up capturing the tournament by 10 strokes over Utah State, the leaders heading into the third round, and UTEP. Jonathon Thomas, who was tied for the individual lead entering today, finished fifth with a score of two-under for the tournament. Seokwon Jeon of Utah State and Ty Travis of Boise State went to a two-hole tiebreaker with Jeon capturing the title.
Last Time Out
Thomas captured his best career finish earlier this week at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. The junior posted a 62 in the first round, which marked a tournament record low and also tied for the course record at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course. The squad placed ninth with a score of 855 (273-279-303), while Thomas' four-under 206 (62-70-74) earned him fourth place.
Junior Max McGrail tied for 30th with a four-over mark of 214 (69-68-77), while junior Jose Pelayo tied for 42nd with a score of 217 (70-71-76). Junior Brandon Kida posted a 219 (72-70-77) to tie for 47th and junior Gentry Hicks tied for 60th with a score of 221 (73-72-76). In individual standings, junior Brent Pollock tied for 70th with a mark of 226 (76-71-79).
