SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Utah women's tennis head coach Matthew Iandolo announced the signing of Luisa Gerstner da Rosa for the 2013-14 season.
Gerstner da Rosa hails from Porto Alegre, Brazil and is one of the top junior tennis players in South America. Ranked among the top 300 junior tennis players in the world, Gerstner da Rosa recently played for Brazil's Junior Fed Cup team and attained rankings in the WTA singles and doubles rankings.
"I chose Utah for many reasons, but mostly because of the great environment," Gerstner da Rosa said. "Everybody on the team wants to constantly improve and achieve big things. The University of Utah offers everything a tennis player needs to become the best she can be along with a great education and an absolutely beautiful campus."
"We are very excited to have Luisa join us," Coach Iandolo said. "Not only does she bring a ton of high-level playing experience, she is also very passionate about getting better and adding to our already solid nucleus."
