NEW ORLEANS, La. - Sophomore Giselle Slotboom of the University of Utah women's cross country team has received USTFCCCA All-Academic Status, the organization announced this week.
"I am extremely proud of Giselle and her efforts in and out of the classroom to attain this honor," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "Her transition into our program has been seamless. She is very dedicated to her academics, her running and her teammates."
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and finishing in the top 15 of the NCAA Regional meet.
Slotboom, a transfer from Jacksonville State, helped lead the Utes to a seventh-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships. At the NCAA Regional Championships, Slotboom finished 12th overall helping Utah earn a sixth-place team finish. Slotboom also qualified for the Dutch National Team in December and competed at the European Cross Country Championships. In the classroom, Slotboom also succeeded earning a 3.375 GPA.
