Medinilla Reaches Final Round of Pre-Qualifying Play

TULSA, Okla.- The University of Utah men's tennis team completed the pre-qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Junior Alejandro Medinilla reached the final round before falling to the tournament's 20th seeded Albert Ochagavia of Old Dominion.
In the third round, Medinilla secured a 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 victory over Vukasin Teofanovic of Marquette before dropping a 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 decision to Ochagavia in the final round. Fellow Ute junior Devin Lane captured a win in consolation play over SMU's Nate Lammons, 6-4, 6-4.
Sophomore Rafael Davidian is next to compete for Utah at the ITA All-American Championships. Davidian begins singles qualifying play Monday. No. 48 senior Dmytro Mamedov and No. 37 sophomore Slim Hamza will being singles main-draw play Thursday.
