Utes Sweep Singles on Day Two of UVa Winter Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The University of Utah women's tennis team swept all six of its singles matches on the second day of play at the University of Virginia Winter Classic, Sunday. The Utes played all of their day two matches against opponents from 62nd-ranked Wake Forest.
"We did a great job competing in singles," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "After our poor performance in doubles, we came back and turned things in our favor. We are looking forward to competing against the Crimson Tide tomorrow."
In singles flight-A, 90th-ranked senior Anastasia Putilina downed 93rd-ranked Kayla Duncan 6-1, 6-4. In flight-B, sophomore Sarah Pham defeated Ryann Cutillo 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, while sophomore Callie Craig bested Kathryn Talbert 6-1, 6-2, in flight-C.
In flight-D play, freshman Natasha Smith topped Rebecca Siegler 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. In flight-E, freshman Danielle Flores bested Karen Forman 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, while sophomore Lucia Kovarcikova defeated Bridgit Bercyte 3-2 ret. in flight-F.
The final day of play begins Monday at 10:30 a.m. ET, at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
