-Senior guard Josh Watkins scored a career-high 26 points to lead all scorers. He finished 7-of-13 from the field and knocked down a career high-tying 11 free throws. Watkins has now eclipsed the 20-point plateau nine times in his Utah career and scored double digits in 33 of his 41 games as a Ute. He has now led Utah in scoring eight times in his 10 games this year.
-Watkins added a game-high six assists, made two steals and blocked a shot.
-Junior center Jason Washburn scored 18 points on 6-of-8 from the field and 6-of-7 at the free throw line. It was his eighth double-digit game of the year and his sixth in the last seven games. Washburn scored 10 of 18 in the first half alone on a 5-of-5 performance from the field. He also added seven rebounds in the game to go with two crucial late-game blocks.
-Junior wing Cedric Martin tallied 11 points, including three 3-pointers and two made free throws. Going 3-of-7 for the night, Martin has now hit 8-of-16 (50%) of his 3-pointers over the last two games including his 5-of-9 effort from long range on Friday against Idaho State. Martin also added five rebounds and three assists.
-Utah forced a season-high turnovers by its opponent for the second consecutive game. After Idaho State committed 15 turnovers on Friday, the Utes turned Portland over 16 times, including six charges.
-The Utes made 24-of-35 foul shots, both season highs.
-The Utes were on the plus side of the points-off-turnovers comparison for the second straight game after accomplishing that stat only once in their first nine games. After a 15-14 points-off-turnovers differential tonight, Utah holds a 37-22 points-off-turnovers advantage over its last two games.
-Utah held Portland without a field goal for the first seven minutes of the game, taking an 11-1 lead before the Pilots hit a shot from the floor.
-Leading by 17 (38-21) with just under three minutes left in the first half Utah held its largest lead of the season at any point. The Utes finished the first half with 39 points, their most in any first half this season and their second-most points in any half.
-Utah never trailed in the game and only allowed Portland to tie the game once, at 55-55 with 8:00 left in the game.
