Washington-Washington State Match Notes
The University of Utah volleyball team faces No. 10 Washington and Washington State in the final weekend of the 2011 season. The Utes take on the Huskies Friday at 7 p.m. MT, at Crimson Court before playing the Cougars Saturday at 7 p.m.
Utah is 9-19 overall this season and 4-15 against Pac-12 Conference opponents after dropping a pair of road matches last weekend at Arizona and Arizona State.

Taking their Act on the Road: Utah took its strong presence on the block on the road this weekend as the Utes outblocked Arizona and Arizona State by a 24.0 to 15.5 margin (3.00 to 1.81 advantage in block-per-set average). The Utes outblocked the Wildcats in Friday's match, 7.0 to 6.0, then held a significant 17.0 to 8.5 edge over the Sun Devils on Saturday. Utah has outblocked its opponents 21 times this season. The Utes are third in the Pac-12 with 3.03 blocks per set overall and 2.92 per set in league competition.
Killpack Packs a Block: Senior middle blocker Danielle Killpack (Idaho Falls, Idaho) led a staunch Utah defense at the net with a team-high 1.94 blocks per set last weekend in a pair of road matches at Arizona and Arizona State. In the Pac-12 overall statistical rankings, Killpack ranks fifth with an average of 1.32 blocks per set this season. She also stands fifth in the league-only statistics with a mark of 1.35 blocks per set against league foes.
Chelsey Takes Charge: Sophomore Chelsey Schofield (Provo, Utah) led Utah with 4.25 kills per set and was second on the squad with 2.88 digs per set last weekend at Arizona and Arizona State. Schofield posted a team-high 13 kills Friday at Arizona. She needed 34 swings and committed five errors on the attack for a .235 hitting percentage for her 13 kills against the Wildcats. At the net, she came up with two solo blocks and two block assists, in addition to five blocks. Schofield set a career high in kills Saturday at Arizona State as she pounded a career-high 21 kills on a career-high mark of 60 assists. Defensively, Schofield tied her season high with 18 digs against the Sun Devils. Schofield now leads the team this season with 2.80 kills per set and she ranks third on the squad with 2.63 digs per set.
Assists from Abby: Junior setter Abby Simmons (Phoenix, Ariz.) distributed a career-high 45 assists Saturday at Arizona State, her second 40-plus-assist match in her last three outings. Simmons dished out a career-high 43 assists Nov. 3 against then-No. 7 California to go with four digs and a pair of blocks. This season, Simmons is handing out a team-high 5.78 assists per set in league play and she ranks second on the squad with 6.14 assists per set in all matches.
Redd Pulls Rank: Sophomore middle blocker Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah) is 12th in the nation and improved to third in the Pac-12's overall statistics this season with 1.39 blocks per set. She ranks sixth in league play with 1.29 blocks per set against conference opponents.
Sim Digs Deep: Libero Nikki Sim (Salt Lake City, Utah) turned in 21 digs Saturday at Arizona State for her fifth 20-plus-dig match of the season. Sim has reached double-digits in digs 18 times this season and is 10th in the Pac-12 with 3.93 digs per set in all matches as well as a 3.65 mark in league play.
