Matias Falls in Second Round of Pre-Qualifying Singles

TULSA, Okla. - University of Utah men's tennis players Ace Matias, Alejandro Medinilla and Dmytro Mamedov represented the Utes at the 2010 ITA All-American Championships Saturday and Sunday.
In the first round, freshman Matias downed Raleigh Smith of Northwestern, 6-3, 6-1, advancing to the second round. He then dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Nebraska's Eric Sock.
Also in the second round, sophomore Medinilla fell to Edgar Rodriguez of USC, 6-4, 6-3.
After defeating SMU's Max Ando-Hirsch in the first set, 6-1, junior Mamedov lost the next to sets by the same score to fall in the first round.
The Utes return home to host the Utah Intercollegiate, Oct. 13-15.
