SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team closes out its fall season at the 2011 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, Oct. 19-23 at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

After falling in the main draw, Benito Suriano won three consolation matches, including a come-from-behind win over Boise State's Michael Gilliland, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.
Week in Review
The Utes had a strong showing at the Utah Intercollegiates, reaching the finals in singles and doubles. No. 2-seeded junior Dmytro Mamedov fell in the singles finals to BYU's No. 1-seeded Spencer Smith, 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-2. In doubles finals, No. 1-seeded sophomore Alejandro Medinilla and freshman Ace Matias dropped an 8-5 decision to No. 3-seeded Simon Unger and Oliver Good of Weber State.
The Utes will open their spring season with a double-header on Jan. 21, 2012 against Weber State at 12 p.m. and Seattle University at 5 p.m. at the Eccles Tennis Center.
