SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team (4-8) was defeated by No. 36-ranked Nebraska (11-3), 4-3, Sunday.

Utah began doubles with a win from the No. 1 position. The Ute duo of Phillip Eilers and Alex Golding topped No. 54-ranked David Bendheim and Calin Paar, 8-3. Stephen Jacobs and Benito Suriano clinched the doubles point for Utah defeating Eric Sock and Francois Van Impe, 8-4, from the No. 3 slot.

Timmy Allin and Jason Smits captured the doubles sweep from the No. 2 slot defeating Christopher Amuller and Andre Stenger, 8-6.

The Huskers answered with a win from the No. 2 slot, Smits fell to No. 82-ranked Paar, 6-4, 6-1. Nebraska continued to hold the lead with wins in the Nos. 5 and 3 spots. Dmytro Mamedov was defeated by Benedikt Lindheim, 6-2, 6-3, and Alex Golding fell to Bendheim, 7-6(3), 6-2.

In the No. 1slot Eilers topped No. 113-ranked Aumuller, 6-4, 6-4. The Huskers clinched the match from the No. 6 position, Jacobs fell to Taylor Boney, 7-5, 7-5. In the No. 4 spot Allin topped Van Impe, 7-6(6), 7-6(5), to end the math at, 4-3.

The Utes will host San Diego Saturday, March 20 at the Eccles Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m.
