SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah women's tennis team (3-5) defeated the University of Denver (2-6), by a score of, 7-0. In their second win at home, the Utes swept all three doubles and all six singles matches. Sophomore Missy Harris clinched the match for Utah from the No. 5 singles position by defeating Lorinda Boothman, 6-3, 6-2.

"This is the best we have played as a team so far this year," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "It makes a huge difference to have our No. 1 player back in the lineup, Anastasia brings so much competitive energy that it really lifts up the team. I also can't say enough about the way Evgenia is playing. With her competing at this level, along with having Anastasia back, it gives us a one-two punch every time out."

In doubles play, junior Evgenia Kryuchkova and sophomore Lisa Johnson downed Mikele Smith and Emma Isberg at the No. 3 spot, 8-3.

Seniors Erin Monson and Andrea Maughan secured the doubles point for Utah from the No. 2 position by defeating Julia Bauregger and Sophia Bergner, 8-2.

Sophomore Anastasia Putilina and freshman Paige Miles topped Ute Schnoy and Boothman at the No. 2 spot, 8-3.

In singles play, Maughan blanked Smith at the No. 6 position, 6-0, 6-0, making the score 2-0.

Miles downed Isberg, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 4 spot, putting the Utes up, 3-0, over the Pioneers.

Harris then clinched the match for Utah at 4-0.

Putilina topped Schnoy at the No.1 spot, 6-3, 7-5, making the score 5-0.

Kryuchkova topped Bauregger, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 2 position, putting Utah up 6-0.

Monson rounded out the Utes' sweep by defeating Bergner, 7-5, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot, making the final score 7-0.

The Utes will return to action on February 27 when they host Arizona at noon at the Eccles Tennis Center.
