THIS WEEK
The University of Utah swimming and diving team will be hosting its annual recruit weekend from Friday to Sunday, Oct. 22-24, to bring in potential student-athletes for the 2011-2012 season. The weekend will introduce swimmers from around the world to the Utah swimming program and the current Utes.
LAST WEEK
The University of Utah women's swimming and diving team beat conference rival Colorado State by a score of 160 to 140 last Friday. This was the Utah's first win against CSU in two years.
The Utes were led by wins from Hannah Caron in the 100 fly (56.63), 200 fly (2:06.68), and 200 IM (2:06.94) as well as Natalie Edge in the 100 free (52.39) and 200 free (1:53.40). Kayla Buck contributed a win in the 1000 free (10:47.70), and Maiya Otsuka competed in the 200 breast (2:22.92) to help Utah earn a victory against the Rams. Kwan Ling Yu also tallied a winning score in the 3-meter dive (284.33).
QUOTING HEAD COACH Greg Winslow
"This weekend will give potential recruits an honest view of what it is like to be a student-athlete at the University of Utah. They will witness what our practices are like and we will have a chance to get to know them as well."
"Our team is coming along nicely so far," Winslow said. "After seeing them step up to the challenge against CSU, I can tell that they will be a tough team to beat this year."
"It's exciting to be able to depend on the women and to have them counting on each other like they did at Colorado State. The team is really growing up."
UPCOMING
