Former Utah men's tennis player Miron Mann advanced to the round of 16 at the Canada F5 Futures event on the ITF men's circuit this week. Mann advanced through three rounds of qualifying and won is first round match in the main draw before falling to the tournament's No. 7 seed.
Mann's path to the main draw included a bye in the first round of qualifying and a victory over Rico Gore, 6-1, 6-2, to be one of 16 players to advance. In the main draw round of 32, Mann defeated Alexandru Pasareanu, 6-2, 7-6(3). His run ended in the round of 16, as he pushed No. 7 seed Chris Klingemann to three sets before falling, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
A member of the Utah tennis team from 2003-08, Mann was a two-time All-Mountain West Conference selection in singles and doubles. With partner Zach Ganger, he went 16-4 overall with a perfect 6-0 record in conference play and earned a national ranking of No. 27.
Mann is one of four former Utes competing on various pro circuits, including Ganger, Wes Hancock and Phillip Eilers.
