SALT LAKE CITY - Utah women's cross country team will be competing in Bozeman, Mont. on Saturday in the Fleet Feet Cross Country Invitational hosted by Montana State University. The women's race is slotted to start at 9:45 a.m. on the three-mile course at Bridger Creek Golf Course.
The Utes have had two weeks to refresh since their third place finish at the Utah State Open on Sept. 5. Freshman Jenny McCune led the pack in the three-mile race with a time of 17:56.8 and an 11th-place finish.
Utah will be competing with 14 other teams on Saturday including Utah Valley University, Weber State, Utah State, Dickinson State, and the University of Great Falls.
Coach Kyle Kepler Sounds Out
"This is a great meet and is on a beautiful course. The first mile has a lot of rolling hills and the last two (miles) are flat. It should be a quick race and expect to have good weather.
"Last meet we weren't aggressive enough, so this time we'll be starting out more aggressive and stay focused. We have a lot of talent, and if we can get in the mix and keep that focus, we'll do well.
"I feel good about our training over the past two weeks. We have a few illnesses but the kids have been stepping up in practice and showing us good things."
LAST YEAR
The Utes took fifth-place out of eight teams, led by then senior Chelsea DiGrazia with a time of 17:21.
